2023 Vision Fellowship

The Vision Fellowship is a program run by the Harvard Computer Society AI Group and Harvard Undergraduate Machine Intelligence Community that promotes independent initiatives in AI and machine learning for personal learning and broader impact. Fellows primarily pursue their work independently but are part of the fellowship community, which seeks to engage members across subfields relevant to AI. The fellowship serves as a way for those interested in AI to do their work, but now with a larger support network and greater resources.

This year, we are offering two tracks for Summer 2023, beginning May 22. Successful fellows will have access to funding for projects (e.g., compute credits, research materials). The fellowship expects a commitment of 5-10 hours per week for project progress and regular remote fellows group discussion/meetings. Those more heavily involved in projects, such as in research at Harvard or startups are also welcome. AI experience is not needed to apply.

• Track 1: Project The Project track is an opportunity for Harvard students with an idea for personal projects in AI/ML to develop, research, and/or research. Ideas may be technical in nature, developing specific models, apps, or proofs of concept, or they may be nontechnical, researching the effects of AI on the economy, policy, or the future. This group will have biweekly fellows group meetings/discussions. Projects related to the Harvard-community, such as an application that is usable by Harvard students, or research on topics with relevance to Harvard broadly will be prioritized, though all projects are welcome.
• Track 2: Development The Development track is an opportunity to learn more about AI fundamentals in a collaborative environment. This track will use a custom curriculum focused on the topic of reinforcement learning (RL), which includes both theoretical and practical components. This group will meet weekly to discuss the material, and may include competitions with other fellows. Fellows may also opt to create or choose their own development plan, to be submitted with the application.

Applications for the Vision Fellowship open April 27, 2023 and close May 10, 2023. Applicants will be notified in the following week.
